Brookie again.
I think she was waiting for Tommy to say whether he was coming to Brooklyn, but looking at the photo I thought I could make a drawing I might use for a zine I’m putting together on “survivalism.”

Brookie.
I made this drawing from a photo I took two weeks ago- I’m actually intending to use it more seriously for a watercolour this week. Photographer friend.

Illustration break: I’ve taken time off after my graduation show, and the plan was to start building a more commercial portfolio for entirely different purposes than my ‘Grad School Application Portfolio.’
I always have complicated feelings about illustration work- I’ve mostly disliked the few projects I’ve been asked to do, and my technical expertise is much more to traditional media than Photoshop or Illustrator. I’m biased, I lean towards conceptual “fine art,” but that said there are a number of illustrators who have been influential to me including Barnaby Ward, Ashley Wood and in a big way Jillian Tamaki (SVA).
Tara McPherson isn’t my sort of direction at all- I saw some cheesy prints of hers in the East Village the other week and imagined them wall-sized like a Takashi Murikami or a Lisa Yuskavage, and I thought that would look kinda great actually.
News: a recent PETA ad campaign (I drew for- it was fun!) that was art directed by the amazing Bellamurphy won a OneShow award!
